44" Minka-Aire ReviewBy V. WolfeI bought this fan/light combo almost 3 years ago and have been very happy with it. It still is very quiet and has very little friction (blades spin long after power is off), so I know it's not using very much electricity to run it. I have the 44" version for a smallish living room and it works great. In fact, I'm using it right now to push the heat from the heater off the ceiling. If you have a bigger room, I suggest the larger version (52", I think). The dimmer system if fairly simple and works well. The light is not extremely powerful, but it does kick out enough light for basic use. I would recommend at least one other light source. In my living room, it works really well with 4 ceiling cans. There are 3 fan settings, which are logical and all useful depending on what you're looking for.However, the best thing about this fan is that it hangs only 10" from the ceiling. I have regular 8' ceilings, and my very tall friend is in no danger of getting whacked, even on his toes. Not only is this functional, but it looks better, in my opinion. Excellent FanBy R. BeachThe fan came packaged very well which from the start gave me a good impression of the quality of this product. The instructions are clear and concise and the quality of materials is good. The fan motor itself is pretty heavy and Minka Aire was nice enough to include a hook on the mounting plate for the sole purpose of hanging the motor during installation..very nice. The blades simply snap in and can be removed if necessary by releasing a hidden catch. The remote control is simple to use and each button makes sense as to what function is being activated . The light output is equivalent to a standard 100 watt bulb but the halogen bulb itself is tiny. (Make sure not to touch the bulb with bare hands because finger oils can cause premature bulb failure.) The light when turned on fades in nicely and on-off brightness can be varied. The fan is very quiet and moves a good amount of air. There does seem to be a bit of noticable fan hub runout on high speed but no fan wobble or vibration. good fanBy HoneydolistI purchased these fans as I'm 6'2", ceilings are 8' and they seemed to be the fans with the blades closest to the ceiling so I don't lose a hand while I'm getting dressed in the morning. We purchased 4 of these fans, as well as another model from Minka Aire. Compared to the other model of Minka Aire (purchased from Restoration Hardware), these are much easier to install. They have not wobbled, move air nicely. They light is perhaps not the most attractive, but it lights the room well. The base of these fans are larger than other fans, and may appear bulkier towards the ceiling.However, it is a bit more complex than a screwdriver and electrical tape to install, as another reviewer mentioned. The ceiling fan has to be secured to the ceiling in an appropriate fashion, either attached directly to a ceiling joist, or through brace b/n the ceiling joists. (westinghouse Saf-T Brace). The person installing it has to have a knowledge of how to attach wires.After I installed all 5 fans, I noticed that each remote control operated every fan in the house. There was instructions in the manual to avoid remote control interference, but this did not work. Not too small or underpoweredBy M. AndersonI received this fan today (Wednesday) after ordering it on Monday. The fact that it shipped free with Amazon Prime was the clincher. No regrets. It took me about two and a half hours to install, I'm not an electrician, but it was a simple and straight forward process. About half of that time was spent rounding up the tools and balancing the blades (not difficult at all but a little time consuming). I think the one tool that should be mentioned as being very helpful is a wire stripping tool. They supply about six feet more wire than one is likely to use from the motor assembly to the outlet/remote receiver. No big deal, but while balancing on a ladder and working over my head I was glad to have the wire stripper/cutter tool.I almost didn't order this fan because of the review about it being too small with the 44" blades and not moving enough air. I respectfully disagree. I am comfortably being breezed upon as I write this, with the fan set on the middle setting. I have it in a small bedroom converted to an office, 12'x11' and a vaulted ceiling from 8' to 10.5'. Beautiful, quiet, easy to installBy PaulThis fan is just beautiful. Very clean lines and it doesn't look old-fashioned like most ceiling fans. It's also very, very easy to install. Three wires connect to the fan from the remote receiver and three to your home wiring. The blades snap right into place and once the plate is mounted to your receptacle box (fan rated of course) the fan goes into place and is held by four screws. There's a little hook on the mounting plate that you can use to hold the fan in place while you make all the connections. I wish every lighting fixture had that.At low speed you can barely hear it and it seems to move quite a bit of air. It appears to be extremely well built and the fit and finish is perfect.
